Moderna ve Pfizer’ın ürettiği 2023-2024 için güncellenmiş aşıların onaylanmasına ilişkin açıklama yapıldı.
Açıklamaya göre, koronavirüsün etkilerinden daha iyi korunmak amacıyla onaylanan yeni mRNA aşılarının acil kullanımına izin verildi.
Alt varyanta karşı etkili
Yeni aşıların koronavirüsün Omicron varyantının XBB.1.5 alt varyantına karşı etkili olduğu ifade edilen açıklamada, daha önce aşı olup olmadığına bakılmaksızın 5 yaş ve üzeri kişilerin herhangi bir koronavirüs aşısının son dozunun üzerinden en az 2 ay geçtikten sonra tek doz güncellenmiş mRNA aşısı almaya uygun olduğu belirtildi.
Açıklamada, güncellenmiş aşıyı olan kişilerin eski aşılarda görülen yan etkileri yaşayabileceği, bu aşıların halihazırda dolaşımda olan varyantlara karşı daha iyi koruma sağlamasının beklendiği ifade edildi.
Yeni aşılar kullanıma sunulacak
Koronavirüs aşılarının bileşiminin mevsimsel grip aşısındaki gibi yıllık olarak güncellenmesi gerekebileceğine işaret edilen açıklamada, ABD Hastalık Kontrol ve Önleme Merkezleri’nden (CDC) yetkililerin, aşının kimlere yapılıp yapılmaması gerektiğini tartışmak üzere yarın bir araya geleceği vurgulandı.
Yeni aşıların, CDC’nin onayının ardından kullanıma sürülmesi bekleniyor.
Yüzde 12 daha hızlı yayılıyor
Avrupa Birliği’nin (AB) sağlık kuruluşu Avrupa Hastalık Önleme ve Kontrol Merkezi (ECDC), 2022’nin son iki haftasında XBB.1.5’in Avrupa’daki koronavirüsler arasında oranının yüzde 2,5 olduğunu, ABD’de ise mevcut varyantlardan yüzde 12 daha hızlı yayıldığını bildirmişti.
XBB.1.5 alt varyantı ilk kez Ekim 2022’de ABD’de tespit edilmişti.
